smsd logo ......Skidaway Marine ..... Science Day

Saturday October 11, 2008 from noon until 4 PM on the Skidaway Marine Science Campus. Join us for an afternoon of marine science programs, displays, tours, activities and music.


The aquarium will be closed during Nov. 27-30, 2008 and Dec. 24, 2008 through Jan. 1, 2009

Program Fees

The fees charged for programs and services at MECA reflect our commitment to involving the school community in affordable marine education. The rates for school groups (public, private, college, home-school, etc.) are subsidized to encourage participation. Civic, conservation, scouts, and other non-school groups are charged appropriately higher fees which more accurately reflect operating costs for the services. Please note the minimum group sizes listed. All groups below this number will be charged for the minimum number or participants. The breakdown of fees (per person) are as follows:

Note that all programs are not available for all ages/grades. Programs are offered Monday - Saturday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Saturday programs are only available for residential groups. Evening and Sunday programs are not available.


Outreach Programs (off site) - $80/session

  1. for groups up to (no more than) 25 people with larger groups splitting over 2 sessions
  2. 45 min. in length
  3. additional $10 fee for programs including expendables (e.g. art supplies)
  4. travel fee of $30 for sites > 30 miles from UGA MECA

Assembly programs

Coastal Reptiles Program - $250/program

  1. grades 5 and up for 51 – 200 students at a time
  2. up to 60 min. in length
  3. travel fee of $30 for sites > 30 miles from UGA MECA

Ocean Animals and other programs - $200/hour for up to 100 students and $300/hour for up to 200 students

grades K and up ( travel fee of $30 for sites > 30 miles from UGA MECA )
