  • Ages 13 to adult is $4
  • Seniors,*Military and ages 3 to 12 is $2
  • Children under 3 are free

Directions:

From I-16: Exit onto Lynes Parkway East (516) to Savannah (this becomes DeRenne Ave.). Continue on DeRenne and turn right onto Truman Parkway heading South. Follow Truman to Whitfield Avenue exit and turn left at ramp traffic light. Whitfield will become Diamond Causeway. Cross the drawbridge over the Skidaway River, go past Skidaway Island State Park (on your left), going through two traffic lights. At the four-way stop, turn left onto McWhorter Dr. Continue until you reach the Skidaway Marine Science Center. The UGA Aquarium will be to your left. Parking is free. Handicapped spaces are available in front of the building.

The UGA Aquarium on Skidaway Island

Beginning in November 2009 the SEA programs will move to every other Saturday thereafter. Saturday Explorations at the Aquarium, or SEA programs, are a fun way for families and visitors to get involved in marine science, while also enjoying a day at the aquarium.

October 24

Dolphin Studies Field Trip: Dorsal fin identification, water quality, habitiat, and data collection in the field.
Time: 9am-noon• Cost: $15/person • Ages: 8 and up • max 24 • reservations required by 10/13/2009.

October 31

Haunted Aquarium: Batfish! Vampire Squid! Goblin Sharks! Oh My! Come dressed in your ghoulish best for a trick or treating time.
Time: 1pm-5pm • Cost: General admission • Ages: All

November 7

Trawling Aboard the R/V Sea Dawg: Learn about the inhabitants of our local estuaries aboard the Research Vessel Sea Dawg.
Time: 10am-12:30pm and 1:30-4pm • Cost: $15/person • Must be 8 years or older • Reservations required by 10/26/2009

Filter Feeders
Learn all about the different types of filter feeders in the local coastal waterways and how they affect coastal development. 
Time: 10am-noon

January 23

"Making the Connections in Fisheries Management:  Fish Genes, Ocean Currents and Marine Protected Areas in Georgia Waters and Beyond"  Today we will take a closer look at the acidification of the oceans and how it affects coral reefs.  Presented by Dr. Peter Verity of the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography. Advance registration required by January 20.

Time: 10-noon Fee: cost of aquarium admission. Advanced Reservations are required with a minimum participation number of 10

January 23-24

Family Sleepover Educational Program
The sleepover’s activities will focus coastal development.  All activities will be hands on and exciting.  There will also be a mini fishing clinic this evening.  Program includes snack and continental breakfast.  Please bring the following items: sleeping bag, pillow, hand towel, pajamas, bug spray, toothbrush and paste, flashlight, fishing pole, camera, and change of clothes.
Time 6pm - 8am
Cost: $25/person all children must be accompanied by an adult
Advanced registration required
Maximum of 25 participants

Pre-register today by calling 912-598-FISH, or email: fish@uga.edu.  Be sure to include your name, number in you party, contact email, and phone number in all messages. Please arrive 15 minutes before program begins to check-in at the admissions / information desk.
